Michael Gavin: Condolences

Michael Gavin, father of the Most Rev. Bishop Fintan Gavin, Bishop of the Diocese of Cork and Ross, passed away at Nazareth House Nursing Home, Malahide, Dublin.
He was a native of Marino and formerly of Tullinahoo, Swinford, County Mayo, and was a member of An Garda Síochána.
On February 15, 2026, he passed away peacefully in the loving care of his family and the staff of Nazareth House Nursing Home, Malahide Road.

The mortal remains of Michael Gavin will be reposing at Fanagan Kirwan Funeral Home, 21/23 Fairview Strand, Dublin3 on Wednesday, February 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the presence of family members.

The funeral rites (Requiem Mass) will begin at 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 19, at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, Marino. Burial will follow at Balgriffin Cemetery.

On the passing of the beloved father who has journeyed to eternal reward, the Cork Syro-Malabar Church community offers its heartfelt condolences and shares in the grief of Bishop Fintan Gavin, his siblings and entire family.
