The Diocesan Office has announced the death of Canon Liam O’Driscoll PE,  retired priest of the Diocese of Cork and Ross. Canon Liam peacefully returned to the Lord in the Bons Secours Hospital, College Road early this morning.

Syro- Malabar Catholic Community in Cork express heartfelt condolences on this sad demise of Canon Liam O’ Driscoll. He will always be remembered as a great supporter of our chaplains, our church and our community as a whole. He will never be forgotten by us for his life of service, love, compassion and excellence. We pray that may God give him eternal rest in His kingdom.

 

Canon Liam who was ordained in 1967 served in the parishes of Dunmanway, Crosshaven, Cathedral Parish, Glanmire and Clogheen/Kerry Pike as well as on the Cork and Ross Peru Mission, as Chaplain to Cork University Hospital and on the staff of Farranferris.

Canon Liam also served as Diocesan Communications Director as well as Diocesan Designated Liaison Person from 2007-2012 and Deputy Designated Liaison Person from 2012-2019. He retired from full-time ministry in Clogheen / Kerry Pike Parish earlier this year and has resided in the Bons Secours Care Village, Mount Desert since then.

Canon Liam was appointed as Archdeacon of the Cathedral Chapter in 2016.

May he now rest in the peace of the Lord.

Canon Liam’s funeral will take place in accordance with current government guidance and we will let you know the details when they become available.
