Syro Malabar Church, Cork consists of a substantial number of teenagers and young people. They have encountered Christ in their lives and called to embrace their role and youthfulness to cherish it to the fullest. Our youth offers a range of services, programs, and resources in the community. Their active presence and constant involvement in the church activities are set as an example by all members of the community. One of their main roles is to nurture the teen’s faith and help them to feel inspired to live with confidence that God can do amazing things in them. Young people with the right skills, knowledge, and understanding allow progressive youth ministry to occur in the community.
The culture and good values of our community are maintained and carried on by this upcoming generation. It is Jesus who fills their soul to live out a Catholic life in the various roles they have every day: in their education, in the playgrounds, on the stage, among their peers, in their families, in the public and whatever situation they are in, to become great witnesses of their faith.
Syro Malabar Youth Movement’s Cork unit was inaugurated on the 12/11/2020, with the blessings of Bishop Stephan Chirappanath, the Apostolic Visitator for Syro-Malabar faithful in Europe. With the help of our guiding priests, Rev Fr. Binoj Mulavarickal (Director of Youth Apostolate Europe), Rev Fr. Clement Padathiparambil (National Coordinator of SMC Ireland), Rev Fr. Rajesh Mechirakath (Director of SMYM Ireland) and Rev Fr. Sibi Arackal (Chaplain of Cork SMCC), they have started a new journey in Cork. They have Mrs. Tessy Mathew and Mr. Siby Thomas as the animators of SMYM Cork. They will have monthly prayer meetings with prayer, games and some fun, to be as Roman 12:5 says “So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another”.
